Hey guys, I went to Canberra last weekend with the Stowaway crew to go check out Cam Whites hillside jam! After a 15 hour drive we arrived on Wednesday night and were met with an amazing feast of peanut soup and purple carrots from Emily Brindley and we found out that her cooking is equally as good as Russell's riding and we all know how good he is! We woke thursday and after a few coffee's at roasters we caught up with the Backbone crew that is Rhysty, Tyson, Jack and B-dog! We got to ride the stromlow trails for a bit before the skies opened and the rain put an end to our riding for the day! Friday was a constant rain cloud over Canberra so we decided to go indoor rockclimbing which was really fun and we all left with sore arms and smiles! It was good to take our mind off the rain but we started to wonder if the event would even go ahead as 2 days of solid rain isn't a good recipe for riding dirt! Thankfully Friday saw nice blue skies and warmer weather so we headed out to stromlow again and had a good little session to warm up before venturing out into the bush for the bmx dirt party! As we arrived at the dirt monsters we were met with bikes and people flying through the air looking like they had just been shot out a cannon! Luckily there were a good share of dialled riders to follow and I managed to follow Chris Harti through a few times and get a bit of a feel for it! Definately the most scared and stoked I have ever been on my bike! Chris was shredding all night going way higher, smoother and more sideways than anyone else! At one point I swear he went at least 15ft over the hip while folding a 1 foot invert that the man himself, Mike Aitken, would have been proud of! Soo good! I got some cool go pro footage following Tyson down aswell so stay on the lookout for that to pop up in a Stowaway edit soon! All in all it was a great time and hopefully we get the chance to head over next year! Thanks to Cam for putting on a rad event and all the Backbone crew and Russ and Em for letting us crash at their place and thanks to Jamie at Stowaway for making it happen and Dave and Toby for making the driving around in the rain a good time! Ryan.
